Our story

When we look back at our time as founders and operators in rapidly growing, impact-driven companies, we all agree: it was the most exhilarating time of our professional lives. Intense, like a long-distance marathon, with all its highs and lows. As a team, we reached heights we never imagined. But there were also deep challenges and pain points we had to endure. Reflecting on our journey, we now realize that many of those missteps could have been avoided with better information, more experience, and stronger decision-making tools.

Scaletrail was born out of those real challenges. Starting at gridX, one of Europe’s largest cleantech acquisitions, we saw firsthand how the energy market was shifting towards a decentralized, digital, and decarbonized future. Yet, we noticed a significant gap: external consultants just didn’t fit well enough for different reasons.

So, we built our own network of top-tier operators—people who’ve scaled businesses themselves. And, we became operators ourselves. We went from 0 to high 8-digit revenue, from 0 to 200 employees, and from being outsiders to leading one of the fastest-growing tech startups in the European energy space. Along the way, we not only scaled a business, but we also had the privilege of building an entirely new market.

Today, we share the experience, expertise, and tactics we’ve implemented and tested over the past 8 years. Initially focused on energy, we quickly realized that the same approach works across B2B software impact ventures. At scaletrail, we bring this proven expertise to help exceptional leaders scale their companies with passion, focus, and the best support possible.
